Over two decades, she honed her woodworking skills, crafting various items such as cutting boards, tables, and gun cabinets. While it remained a cherished hobby alongside her full-time job, she had yet to realize the profound purpose her creations would serve. After becoming a therapeutic foster family, she made the courageous decision to resign from her job and focus on supporting her family at home. Tammy sought dedicated space for herself and a meaningful outlet for her creative energy, which led her to build a personal workshop, unknowingly setting the stage for a remarkable calling. It was during her work as a host and setup assistant for Kings Mountain Preserve that she met Terry Robertson, the proprietor. Their conversations turned to pine caskets, and Terry expressed a need for a local craftsperson to build them. In that pivotal moment, Tammy felt a profound realization—this was the opportunity she had been searching for. Creating caskets resonated deeply within her, connecting her to the satisfaction of bringing comfort to others and her love for working with wood. Discovering her great-grandfather, a blacksmith, had also built caskets solidified her commitment to the timeless tradition of craftsmanship and reverence. With each meticulously crafted casket, Tammy combines her passion for woodworking, her innate ability to bring joy, and her deep respect for the environment.
